Registration Answers Can I pay by credit card and be safe? We protect your credit card information like it was our own. We will delete it from the server on which it was received once we've processed the order. The online order processing through our website uses full 128-bit encryption. We have been accepting credit cards for many years. To date we've had no complaints or charge backs. If you have questions concerning the safety of using credit cards online in general, we invite you to visit the Visa website. In general, the consumer is very protected against liability from fraud. I live outside the United States and I want to register my game. Can I do that? How? A good portion of our registrations come from outside the United States. If you have a Visa or MasterCard, you can purchase the registration online from our website at www.thievesandkings.com. Click on the "Order Online" button. If you don't have a Visa or MasterCard, you CAN send us a check or a money order, but we can no longer convert currencies. It MUST be in US dollars! It's usually easiest to purchase an international money order in US dollars. Personal checks generally need to be drawn from a US bank. Please don't try to write $15 on a check whose account is not with a US bank. If you have a valid check or money order, simply send it to our address with your name, address and a few other things. For more information concerning paying by check or money order, click here. My computer or hard drive had to be replaced, so I reinstalled my game. What do I do to re-register? You can re-register by re-entering the registration information that we sent you by e-mail and/or through the mail. I lost my registration information! Can you tell me what it was? Probably. Send us an e-mail. The chances will be better that we can send you the registration information if you have the same e-mail address you used when you originally registered. If your e-mail has changed, tell us the name and address you used when you registered. We'll try to send you the information again, but we reserve the right not to if it appears that the registration is being copied or misused. I want to download the latest version of a game. Will I have to re-register? Will I get an upgrade discount? Upgrades within major versions are free to registered users, so upgrading from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 or 3.0.6 to 3.1 is free. Upgrades to new major versions (3.1 to 4.0) will be discounted from the full price of the game. As of this writing, the only major upgrade has been from Thieves and Kings 2.1 to TK Solitaire 3.0. When a major version is released, people who have recently registered will get a free upgrade. If you install a minor upgrade on a registered computer, you won't have to re-enter the registration information. We have more than one computer or more than one person in the household. Do they need separate registrations? In general, you MAY:
You MAY NOT:
You MUST delete the registration information from any computer that will violate this agreement. This includes before you sell or give the computer to any other person. We also reserve the right to change our licensing policy on future versions of the game as well as on other games or features. For example, we may provide a method to post scores to our website through the game itself. In this case, we may require that each person have their own registration information. When this is implemented we will probably provide discounts for people in the same household. I'm getting rid of my old computer. What do I do to remove the registration from the game? You may have a selection under the "Help" menu of the game to unregister the game and remove your name and registration number. If so, select it and it will remove the information after asking for confirmation. Uninstalling the game will also remove the registration. If you can't uninstall the game, please download our uninstall program for the game you want to uninstall or contact us and we'll help you. I want to be able to pay for the registration by check or money order. How do I do that? First, call us or check the website to see if our pricing has changed! Then, send us a check or money order for that amount payable to Thieves and Kings (in US dollars!) to the following address: Thieves and Kings Include the following information:
You can also tell us:
If you have access to the internet, but don't want to use the online ordering, you can still just print out the registration ordering page and fill it out. If you include an e-mail address, we'll e-mail you the registration information as soon as we receive the payment, otherwise we'll send you the information through the mail. Please try not to use a temporary e-mail address. You may need it for us to remind you of your registration information if it's lost. We promise will not give any of your information to marketers or send you information against your wishes. For more on our privacy policy, please click here. Can I buy a game for someone else? You can certainly buy the game for someone else. You can do it online through our website and provide the information for whom to send it to. You can also do it through the mail. If you want the recipient to get a copy of the receipt, let us know in the comments section, otherwise we'll assume it's a gift and send the receipt only to you. I registered the game, but never received the keys. What happened? It's very rare that anyone has reported not receiving the registration promptly. When it has happened, the problem has usually been that the person has used the registration form provided in older versions of Thieves and Kings. This form had to be mailed or faxed to us, but sometimes people assumed that it ordered it through the internet. In these cases, we never received the order. If we don't actually receive an order, we obviously do not cash the check or charge the credit card. We NEVER charge a credit card unless we try to e-mail the registration the same day or send the registration in the mail. Sometimes the e-mail address will be wrong, either because we heard it wrong on the phone or it was entered incorrectly on the online registration form. When we know that an e-mail address didn't work, we'll try to contact you. If you've registered the game online and haven't received your registration information through e-mail within 24 hours, please contact us. If you didn't give us an e-mail address and haven't received your registration information through the mail within seven business days, contact us. We'll ensure that we get it resolved right away. How long will my registration last? Your version of the game will be registered forever on your computer. If you replace your computer or hard drive, you'll always be able to re-install that version of the game and re-enter your registration information, assuming that that version of the game will run on the new computer. If you want to upgrade to a new version, you'll probably be able to do that without re-registering. For more information on new versions click here. What is your privacy policy? Will I get a bunch of junk e-mail or phone calls if I register? We will never sell or give your information (including your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number) to any marketers without your permission in advance. We assume that you have NOT given us permission unless we specifically ask you and you give us clear permission in writing (e.g. an e-mail). We will not try to trick you into giving us this permission accidentally. We will occasionally send a newsletter or notification concerning our products to either your e-mail address or your home address. If this is not o.k., let us know and we will be sure to avoid sending any information. We only use telephone numbers to resolve problems with an order. I bought a CD at a store that had your game on it. I thought I already paid for it. Why do I now have to pay to register it? What you bought was a collection of shareware games. There are companies who collect free games and trial versions of games and sell the collections. Somewhere on the packaging should be an explanation or a statement that says that some of the games may need to be registered or bought. If you feel like you've been misled, you can contact the store or merchant you bought the games from or contact the publisher of the CD. We do not receive any money from the purchase of these distributions, so we cannot offer any refunds. For more information about the shareware concept, we suggest you visit the Association of Shareware Professionals by clicking here. Software Answers How do I post my scores to the website? Only registered users can post their scores to the website and it's done from within the game by selecting "Scores" in the menu, then clicking the "Post Scores" button. Detailed information on how to do it is provided in the help menu. We no longer post scores that are reported by e-mail, were achieved with an unregistered version of the games or were achieved by a version of Thieves and Kings before version 2.0. I want to change the picture in Kings Corners. Do you have any I can use? Yes, we provide some copyrighted pictures when you download the game and we include others with the CD. The others on the CD are www.freeimages.co.uk. They have lots more there that you can download. If you don't have digital pictures of your own, you might ask family or friends with a digital camera for pictures. If you still need pictures, let us know and we'll try to get you some. I'd like to report a bug or request a feature. How do I do that? Please send e-mail to support@thievesandkings.com! We take all bug reports and requests for features very seriously. Open the Add and Remove Programs section of the Windows control panel and look for Thieves and Kings or the name of the program (e.g. TK Solitaire). If that doesn't work, you may be able to uninstall the game by running uninstall.exe in the directory in which you installed it. If you still have trouble, please contact us (see below). The best way to contact us is through e-mail at support@thievesandkings.com and you can of course check our website at www.thievesandkings.com. Registered users get priority support if you send e-mail from the address you have on record. Your e-mail will be assigned a tracking number. If you have a technical problem or question, please give us as much information as possible, including the game you were playing and specific information about what happened.
